Teen readers

We are now in the middle of Teen Read Week. The American Library Association (ALA) suggests ways that parents can encourage teens to read:

*Read the same books your teens read and then talk about them together.

*Keep books with teen appeal around - in the car, near the TV, and in the bathroom, for instance.

*Visit a bookstore or library with your child.

*Turn off the television set one evening a week and spend the time reading.

*Let your kids see you reading for pleasure.

A list of books for teens can be accessed at the ALA's Web site: www.ala.org/yalsa/booklists
