Fridge fright

Do you suspect there are unknown organisms squatting in the back of your refrigerator? Do you need a gas mask just to open the door?

If so, here's the push you need: Today has been designated Clean Out Your Refrigerator Day. And with a turkey and all the fixings probably on your shopping list for next week, it doesn't happen a minute too soon.

To encourage Americans to clean out their refrigerators and to answer their fridge-cleaning questions, Whirlpool has established a toll-free hot line, 888- CLEAN-OUT, which will be answered from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. EST until Nov. 19.

Through the end of this month, you can also come clean by e-mailing your questions to the company's "Doctor of Refrigeratorology" at doctor@whirlpool.com

Why is Christian Science in our name?

Our name is about honesty. The Monitor is owned by The Christian Science Church, and we’ve always been transparent about that.

The Church publishes the Monitor because it sees good journalism as vital to progress in the world. Since 1908, we’ve aimed “to injure no man, but to bless all mankind,” as our founder, Mary Baker Eddy, put it.

Here, you’ll find award-winning journalism not driven by commercial influences – a news organization that takes seriously its mission to uplift the world by seeking solutions and finding reasons for credible hope.
