Hua Mei, now five months old, is the first Giant Panda to survive after being born in captivity. Her life at the San Diego Zoo includes a morning 'active time,' while her mother, Bai Yun, forages on bamboo. In mid-February, after the cub adjusts to seeing groups of people, the front of the panda exhibit is expected to be opened so the general public can meet her.
