History of 'the midnight ride' still burns bright
This lantern in the Concord (Mass.) Museum has been identified as one of two hung in the belfry of Christ Church in Boston the night of April 18, 1775. The lanterns were placed by order of Paul Revere to alert Patriots across the river in Charleston that the British would land by boat. This year marks the 225th anniversary of the events that touched off the American Revolution. Some 1,000 to 1,500 reenactors will take part in reliving those events this weekend.
