Our name is about honesty. The Monitor is owned by The Christian Science Church, and we’ve always been transparent about that.
The Church publishes the Monitor because it sees good journalism as vital to progress in the world. Since 1908, we’ve aimed “to injure no man, but to bless all mankind,” as our founder, Mary Baker Eddy, put it.

A timeline about women's movements through US history (May 11, page 9) incorrectly characterized Mothers Against Drunk Driving. The organization works to toughen laws and raise public awareness regarding the perils of driving while under the influence of alcohol.
A story about swing states in the fall election (May 16, page 4) put the University of Iowa in the wrong city. The campus is in Iowa City.
