Couture collars and doggie scents

Although the French are not usually known as pet lovers, French designers are showing a lavish interest in dogs. Louis Vuitton's collection includes collars (from $95), a checkered canvas leash ($115), and a dog travel bag ($771).

"Dogwear" now shows up in couture competition. The Italian label Gucci sells a brown raincoat ($117) for canines.

"Dog attitude," as the French call it, also focuses on pet fragrances. The ultimate Parisian chic is a unisex perfume called "Oh My Dog!" ($17) sold with a shampoo at Galeries Lafayettes.

In addition, an online magazine - Dog! - has been launched, featuring famous models with their pets.
