Last week's review of "Special Providence" gave an undeserved promotion to Alexander Hamilton. Jack Hamilton (no relation) wrote to us: "Powerful politician, aide to George Washington, secretary of Treasury, leader of the Federalists, attorney for the fledgling DuPont Co., etc. he was, but not president of the United States."

We'll share the blame for an error in our review of "Sinclair Lewis," also last week. The caption to a photo of Lewis taken from the book published by Random House gave an incorrect date for his Nobel Prize in Literature. Several readers let us know that the author of "Babbitt" and "Main Street" actually won the Nobel honor in 1930.
