Hurricane Katrina Relief Fund

The Christian Science Board of Directors has established a fund to provide needed assistance for relief efforts in the region. The Board recognizes that everyone's heart yearns to help all those affected by hurricane Katrina in New Orleans and throughout the Gulf Coast area. They invite readers to join with people from all over the world who are praying that those in need will discover proof of God's power helping them - comforting, guiding, and protecting them.

In addition, you're invited to visit the Current Events page on spirituality.com, which includes an audio Q&A talk recorded Aug. 29, called "A prayerful response to hurricane Katrina." Coming issues of the Christian Science Sentinel also will include reports and articles sharing ways people are reaching out to help.

If you'd like to send a check, please make it payable to: The First Church of Christ, Scientist. In the memo line, please write "Hurricane Katrina Fund." Mail the check to:

Why is Christian Science in our name?

Our name is about honesty. The Monitor is owned by The Christian Science Church, and we’ve always been transparent about that.

The Church publishes the Monitor because it sees good journalism as vital to progress in the world. Since 1908, we’ve aimed “to injure no man, but to bless all mankind,” as our founder, Mary Baker Eddy, put it.

Here, you’ll find award-winning journalism not driven by commercial influences – a news organization that takes seriously its mission to uplift the world by seeking solutions and finding reasons for credible hope.
