The other role for Hollywood starlets: raking in the millions
Although Julia Roberts has pushed back from moviemaking since giving birth to twins in late 2004, she still ranks as the industry's best- paid starlet, according to Hollywood Reporter (which calls itself "the book of record for the entertainment industry"). Roberts commands roughly $20 million per picture and is considering what her next cinematic role will be after she completes a 12-week Broadway engagement in the play "Three Days of Rain," which opens officially April 9 and already is virtually sold out. Meanwhile, Oscar nominees Reese Witherspoon ("Walk the Line") and Charlize Theron ("North Country") could up their own antes if they're named winners at this year's Academy Awards 19 days from now. The A-list of highest-paid actresses and how much each commands per film (estimated in millions):
1. Julia Roberts $20
2. Nicole Kidman 16-17
3. Reese Witherspoon (tie)
Drew Barrymore 15
5. Renee Zellweger (tie)
Angelina Jolie (tie)
Cameron Diaz 10-15
8. Jodie Foster 10-12
9. Charlize Theron 10
10. Jennifer Aniston 9
