Ben Arnoldy is managing editor of Monitor Frontier Markets. Ben recently spent several years based in New Delhi covering India, Pakistan, and Afghanistan for the Monitor. He has held a wide variety of other posts during his 12 years at the Monitor: some international editing, some reporting from around the American West, and some slinging of HTML in the early days of csmonitor.com.

During the 2003 invasion of Iraq, he became perhaps the first online journalist to embed with the military. His journalism work has been recognized by the Online News Association and the Sidney Hillman Foundation.

Ben graduated from Georgetown University with a BA in English and a minor in Computer Science. He has taught journalism at the 9.9 School of Convergence in New Delhi.

For the past half dozen years or so, Ben has produced a weekly sudoku for the Monitor, but he still awaits "puzzle master" to be added to his official title.

Why is Christian Science in our name?

Our name is about honesty. The Monitor is owned by The Christian Science Church, and we’ve always been transparent about that.

The Church publishes the Monitor because it sees good journalism as vital to progress in the world. Since 1908, we’ve aimed “to injure no man, but to bless all mankind,” as our founder, Mary Baker Eddy, put it.

Here, you’ll find award-winning journalism not driven by commercial influences – a news organization that takes seriously its mission to uplift the world by seeking solutions and finding reasons for credible hope.
