brings three-decades of communications and journalism experience to his role as Assistant Vice President of Communications at AIA.
Prior to joining AIA in 2013, Mordoff had an eighteen-year career at Lockheed Martin Corp. As communications director for its Information Systems & Global Solutions division, he was responsible for external communications, marketing communications and advertising. He also served as director of international communications at the corporate office leading their global information activities including international public relations and marketing communications strategies, media relations and trade show/exhibit coverage. Mordoff started his career at Lockheed as the chief spokesman for the Hubble Space Telescope program.
Mordoff began his aviation career as a flight test engineer for General Dynamics. He took his technical background and moved into aviation journalism with Aviation Week & Space Technology and Commercial Space magazines. During three of his eight years with Aviation Week, he was stationed in Germany as bureau chief, directing coverage of the rapidly developing European aerospace industry as well as the changing geo-political environment there in the late 1980s. He also served as engineering editor in both the New York and Los Angeles offices.
Other career highlights include positions with the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association as the senior vice president of communications and Gulfstream Aerospace as communications director. As a communications consultant, Mordoff worked with organizations ranging from the National Science Foundation to news organizations, and led the communications effort in Lockheed’s successful bid to secure the Littoral Combat Ship program.
Mordoff graduated from San Jose State University with a bachelor’s degree in aeronautical operations and holds a private pilot certificate.
