Jacob Posner

Jacob Posner is a 2023 graduate of Williams College and holds a Bachelor’s degree in history. He completed an honor’s thesis on a new type of masculinity that emerged in 1920s Germany.

Prior to The Monitor, Jacob worked as a general assignment reporter at 97.9 WHAV, a news outlet in Haverhill, Massachusetts, and freelanced at hyperlocal digital newspapers in communities across Greater Boston. In college, he led his student newspaper’s podcast, Press Record, and played on the ultimate frisbee team.

He has a particular interest in housing because where Americans live can shape the course of their lives. It often determines what school their kids attend, whether they can access nutritious food, and if they own a valuable asset. He also has a passion for audio storytelling.

Why is Christian Science in our name?

Our name is about honesty. The Monitor is owned by The Christian Science Church, and we’ve always been transparent about that.

The Church publishes the Monitor because it sees good journalism as vital to progress in the world. Since 1908, we’ve aimed “to injure no man, but to bless all mankind,” as our founder, Mary Baker Eddy, put it.

Here, you’ll find award-winning journalism not driven by commercial influences – a news organization that takes seriously its mission to uplift the world by seeking solutions and finding reasons for credible hope.
