Jasmine is a fourth-year senior at Northeastern University, studying journalism and international affairs. She became interested in journalism due to its power to inform the public about complex and important issues, and her journalistic interests include education, mental health, marginalized communities, and the Supreme Court.

Before arriving at the Monitor, she spent a summer profiling LGBTQ college students around the country, asking questions about how intersectional identities impact one's college experience. This cemented her interest in people-first journalism that highlights how systems and policies impact individual lives.

Outside of journalism, her interests including cooking, travel, multimedia design, and language-learning. She strives to be multilingual, and is currently focused on maintaining the Russian and German she learned earlier in college.

Why is Christian Science in our name?

Our name is about honesty. The Monitor is owned by The Christian Science Church, and we’ve always been transparent about that.

The Church publishes the Monitor because it sees good journalism as vital to progress in the world. Since 1908, we’ve aimed “to injure no man, but to bless all mankind,” as our founder, Mary Baker Eddy, put it.

Here, you’ll find award-winning journalism not driven by commercial influences – a news organization that takes seriously its mission to uplift the world by seeking solutions and finding reasons for credible hope.
