Lindsey McGinnis is the Asia Editor at The Christian Science Monitor.

She previously served as the Junior Editor/Writer for the Monitor's weekly magazine, as well as the lead writer on the Points of Progress franchise. She's drawn to stories about gender, public history, and outer space.

Lindsey holds a degree in International Relations with a focus on peace and security from Mount Holyoke College. There, she served as Editor-in-Chief of the student newspaper, The Mount Holyoke News, during the publication's 100-year anniversary. She also studied abroad at the Shanghai University of Finance and Economics.

After graduating, she worked for New England Public Radio in Springfield, MA, reporting on everything from police body cameras to 5G technology, before returning home to the Boston area. Lindsey joined the Monitor after an AmeriCorps service year spent supporting youth mentoring programs. Becoming an International Space Station correspondent is her favorite pipe dream.

Why is Christian Science in our name?

Our name is about honesty. The Monitor is owned by The Christian Science Church, and we’ve always been transparent about that.

The Church publishes the Monitor because it sees good journalism as vital to progress in the world. Since 1908, we’ve aimed “to injure no man, but to bless all mankind,” as our founder, Mary Baker Eddy, put it.

Here, you’ll find award-winning journalism not driven by commercial influences – a news organization that takes seriously its mission to uplift the world by seeking solutions and finding reasons for credible hope.
