Maddy Crowell is a contributor to the Monitor's Rapid Response team covering trending breaking news stories. 

Maddy has just returned to the States after a year freelancing in India. Prior to India, she's reported from Morocco, Ghana, and the United States. Her work has appeared in Harper's Magazine, Slate Magazine, the Wall Street Journal (India Real Time), The Economist (Baobab blog), and GlobalPost, among others. Her first by-line for the Monitor was from Morocco in 2012, where she wrote about the leftover Arab Spring.

Originally from Chicago, she holds a B.A. from Carleton College, where she studied Political Philosophy/International Relations.

Our name is about honesty. The Monitor is owned by The Christian Science Church, and we’ve always been transparent about that.
