Mary Tabor

Mary B. W. Tabor is the U.S. regions editor for The Christian Science Monitor. She is a former staff reporter for The New York Times, where she covered federal courts, Brooklyn, national education, and publishing, writing the Times’ Book Notes column for the paper’s culture section. An investigative reporter, Mary was part of the Pulitzer-winning team covering the aftermath of the 1993 World Trade Center bombing. As a journalist, she has enjoyed reporting from across the U.S., as well as from England, Germany, Venezuela, and Kenya.

Her career has also included serving as a metro reporter for The Boston Globe, a production assistant for NPR’s All Things Considered, a researcher for the civil rights documentary “Eyes on the Prize,’’ a college journalism instructor, and a contributor to two books on education, including "Smart Kids, Smart Schools" and “The Fiske Guide to Colleges.” Mary began her career at the Monitor as a clerk on the National Desk. A native of Memphis, she holds a BA in English from Princeton University.
