Michelle Toh joined the Monitor staff in the summer of 2015 and produces stories based on breaking and trending news of the day.

Her work has appeared in USA Today, the Huffington Post, Global Post, the South China Morning Post, Fusion, and Harper's Bazaar, among others. She is a recent graduate of the University of Southern California with a concentration in journalism and political science. 

Michelle was born in Malaysia, raised in Hong Kong and educated in Beijing, London and Los Angeles, and writes about international affairs, public policy and social justice issues with the goal of reducing the world's degrees of separation. In 2015, she was named the recipient of USC Annenberg School of Journalism's Penny Lernoux Award for International Reporting. 

Outside of work, Michelle is a confessed Soul Cycle enthusiast, avid Instagrammer and watcher of bad reality TV.

Our name is about honesty. The Monitor is owned by The Christian Science Church, and we’ve always been transparent about that.
