Plagiarism claims against the "Harry Potter" books are nothing new. The latest lawsuit against author J.K. Rowling questions the originality of the wizardry world portrayed in the "Harry Potter" series. Although the case has yet to receive a proper hearing, Justice David Kitchin has refused to dismiss the charges alleging that, in writing “Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire” (book No. 4 in the "Harry Potter" series), Ms. Rowling took ideas from the late novelist Adrian Jacobs’s 1987 book, “The Adventures of Willy the Wizard.”
“I am saddened that yet another claim has been made that I have taken material from another source to write Harry,” said Rowling in a statement. She has said that the claims led by Mr. Jacobs’ estate trustee Paul Allen are “unfounded” as she has not even read Jacobs’s book.
