The Tiger's Wife (Random House, 388 pp.), a debut novel by young Serbian-born literary star Téa Obreht, was one of the most highly anticipated fiction releases of 2011. And Obreht’s magical story of a physician investigating her grandfather’s past in an unnamed Balkan country did not disappoint.
