Brian Selznick's book "The Invention of Hugo Cabret" has been turned into "Hugo" – a Martin Scorsese film that's been garnering rave reviews from critics. Now Selznick turns back to paper for The Hugo Movie Companion (Scholastic, Inc., 256 pp., $19.99), which includes interviews with members of the cast and crew conducted by Selznick, historical background on the movie's themes of silent filmmaking, full-page photos from the set, and an essay by Scorsese about the dawn of movies.
