Lovers of contemporary fiction may find themselves being drawn to their TV sets more often over the next few years. "American Gods," Neil Gaiman's story of a battle between ancient and contemporary gods in America, is being adapted for a 2013 HBO series, and Jonathan Franzen's National Book Award-winning family saga "The Corrections" is also slated for adaptation as an HBO series to be aired in 2013. Stephen King's epic seven-part (soon to be eight) "Dark Tower" series is scheduled to air as a a two-season HBO adaptation accompanying a trilogy of films (no release date yet.) Meanwhile, HBO also plans to bring to the small screen a TV version of Jennifer Egan's Pulitzer Prize-winning "A Visit From The Goon Squad," while other novels – including Karen Russell's "Swamplandia!, Tom Perrotta's "The Leftovers," and Chad Harbach's "The Art of Fielding" have also been optioned for series.
