10 book-to-movie adaptations coming this holiday season

These movies adapted from both children's and adult books are hitting the screen this holiday season.

2. 'The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo'

"The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" is the first book in the massively successful "Millennium" trilogy by Swedish author Stieg Larssen. All three books in the "Millenium" series have already been adapted into films in Sweden with "Sherlock Holmes" star Noomi Rapace taking on the title role. Now, in the US production, Rooney Mara is putting on the black leather of main character Lisbeth Salander and Daniel Craig is playing Mikael Blomkvist, the journalist who teams up with her to solve a dangerous mystery.
