10 sequels based on a classic book

10 authors who wrote a novel based in another author's literary world.

2. 'Wicked,' by Gregory Maguire

Author Gregory Maguire took on one of pop culture's most memorable villains – the Wicked Witch of the West from Frank Baum's "The Wizard of Oz" – with his 1995 novel "Wicked." Wicked tells the story of all that happened to the scary crone (here named Elphaba) before Dorothy came to town. Glinda, the Wizard and other familiar characters also make appearances. Reviews were for the most part positive and Maguire published two sequels. The book was also famously turned into a Tony-winning musical that's still on Broadway today.
