The LRA is now active in the Democratic Republic of Congo, the Central African Republic and South Sudan. Because “Kony 2012” gave many viewers the impression that the LRA is currently in Uganda, it is important to tease out the ways in which the LRA has now become a problem for other states. Though Reno sometimes makes overgeneralizations about African conflict, he nevertheless gives readers an important macro-perspective that adds regional geopolitical context to the discussion. Most importantly, he shows how conflicts like this one have changed over time. The LRA of today is not the LRA of 1986, and discussions of appropriate policy solutions to the war must keep this in mind.
