7 favorite books as chosen by a preschool class

A preschool teacher and her students share their favorite titles.

5. 'Freight Train,' by Donald Crews

“It’s my favorite because I love trains, and because the train goes faster!” –Eli, 4

I discovered “Freight Train” just as we began our unit on transportation. My students loved this book because they could “read” along with me by saying the colors of all of the train cars and because the train is moving fast. Speed is of utmost importance to preschoolers – just ask them to run for you on the playground. I loved this book because of the rich train vocabulary. Thanks to Crews, my kids now know all about hopper cars and trestles.
