These books (two so far) follow the main character, Kvothe, through his present and his past. Presently, he is hiding out in a very rural town, pretending to be a tavern owner. As he recounts his tale to a Chronicler, you learn that he was not always so tame. There is science/magic involved, adventures to distant lands, near-death experiences, and – best of all – interactions between Kvothe and his nemesis. Of course, there is also a girl. There is always a girl. These books by Patrick Rothfuss are marvelous because they have just enough magic and sarcasm to keep the ball rolling. Honestly, my favorite series of all time.
