Debut author Hayes spins the story of Scott Murdoch, better known as the Pilgrim, a retired secret agent who is called back on the job after an enemy known as the Saracen hatches a plan to destroy America. Nelson calls the book an "old-fashioned thriller." "It's the kind of blockbuster [read] you really want in the summer," she says.
