A new trailer for the film “Kill Your Darlings,” in which a star-studded cast will portray some of the most fabled Beat writers of the 20th century, has been released.
“Darlings” stars “Harry Potter” actor Daniel Radcliffe as Allen Ginsberg; “Martha Marcy May Marlene” actress Elizabeth Olsen as Edie Parker; “Contraband” actor Ben Foster as William Burroughs; “Boardwalk Empire” actor Jack Huston as Jack Kerouac; and “The Amazing Spider-Man 2” actor Dane DeHaan as Lucien Carr.
The film's plot follows the true story of the 1944 death of college professor and acquaintance of the group David Kammerer (Michael C. Hall). Carr, Kerouac, and Burroughs were arrested in connection with his alleged murder.
Carr, Ginsberg, Parker, Burroughs, and Kerouac became friends at Columbia University. The trailer shows the group misbehaving in the library and Ginsberg questioning literary conventions during a class.
As noted by IndieWire, the trailer ends abruptly, “or perhaps it's a meta reflection of the Beats' tendency to break established narrative rules or whatever,” IndieWire reporter Kevin Jagernauth wrote.
“Darlings” will have a limited release Oct. 18. Check out the full video.
