Despite its sticker price of $53,140, Williams's net cost is only $19,000, and Williams students carry only $8,000 in student loans at graduation – the least average debt of the Top 10 schools, Like Amherst, Davidson, and the remaining two schools on the Top 10 list, Williams replaced loans with grants in the past few years. After the recession crunched its endowment, though, Williams had to reverse the policy, at least for upper-income students.
