After four infants died from strangulation in Graco strollers, the CPSC recalled 2 million strollers in October – spurring the largest stroller recall in US history. The Quattro Tour and the MetroLite strollers also put children in danger of cutting or bruising, the CPSC said.
“Any product that can cause fatalities is an important recall,” says Mays.
In January 2010, 1.5 million strollers were recalled after hinges injured children’s fingers. Reports showed that five children lost fingers. Graco models recalled in January include Passage, Alano, and Spree strollers. In March, 1.2 million Graco Harmony high chairs were also recalled for hardware defects causing some high chairs to tip over.
