As home to the world headquarters of Denny's, Extended Stay Hotels, and other corporations – as well as a BMW manufacturing plant – Spartanburg would seem well-poised to weather a recession. But its unemployment rate remains in double digits and, unique among the Top 10 fast-rising foreclosure metros, its 1.7 percent foreclosure rate ranks it among the top half of US metro areas.
