Deduct away the pounds, says the IRS.

Some people who enrolled in weight-loss programs last year can deduct the money they paid in fees. But not everyone qualifies: They must have enrolled to treat a specific, diagnosed condition, like obesity. The IRS also points out that, even at the advice of a doctor, the cost of dance lessons, swim lessons, and health-club dues are not deductible.

And those diet foods? People may have convinced themselves they’re delectable, but they’re still not deductible, except in very limited cases.
