Though Detroit may be making that comeback promised by Eminem’s Super Bowl spot, another Michigan area is doing even better. Grand Haven, a fishing and resort town known for its annual Coast Guard festival, has recovered about 1,000 of the 7,000 manufacturing jobs it lost during the Great Recession. The area’s percentage drop is a bit better than the 3.4 percentage rebound of Flint, Mich., and Detroit. Unlike them, it’s unemployment rate is now below the national average.
