Pillsbury recall: Bad batch of cinnamon rolls
General Mills announced a voluntary recall Friday of a limited quantity of refrigerated PIllsbury Cinnamon Rolls with Icing.
The company says that the recall was taken as a "precaution because the dough may contain fragments from a broken piece of plastic on the production line. These products are sold in grocery stores nationally. No other Pillsbury dough products are being recalled."
General Mills also notes that PIllsbury Flaky Cinnamon Rolls and Pillsbury Grands! Cinnamon Rolls are not included in this recall.
Only specific 8-count single and double packages with certain date codes of Pillsbury Cinnamon Rolls with Icing are being recalled:
Product | Better if Used date on package |
Pillsbury Cinnamon Rolls with Icing | 30OCT2013 and 31OCT2013 |
Pillsbury Cinnamon Rolls with Icing 2-pack | 18OCT2013, 26OCT2013 and 31OCT2013 |
General Mills is offering a free replacement to anyone returning a package of this kind of cinnamon roll. Consumers with questions may contact General Mills directly toll-free at 1-800-775-4777.
In July, Ken Powell told investors that General Mills continues to grow international sales. “Just five years ago only a quarter of our total sales, including our share of joint ventures, came from markets outside the U.S. Today, it’s more than one-third. Our global business portfolio gives us confidence that we can keep growing at an attractive rate.”
The company said it expects net sales to grow at a low single-digit rate in 2014 to exceed $18 billion, with mid single-digit growth in segment operating profit and fiscal 2014 adjusted diluted earnings per share in a range of $2.87 to $2.90 per share.
General Mills plans to roll out more than 200 new products in the first half of this fiscal year. Among the new products, Hershey’s Cookies & Creme cereal will launch this summer, along with two varieties of Nature Valley granola cereal. The company also plans to expand the distribution of BFast, a breakfast shake.
