The U.S. Open will return to Pebble Beach Golf Links in 2019 for a sixth time as part of the course's 100th anniversary celebration.
Pebble Beach is hosting its fifth U.S. Open starting Thursday.
The USGA also announced Wednesday the 2017 Open is headed for Erin Hills in Wisconsin.
Thomas J. O'Toole Jr., chairman of the USGA's championship committee, says the decision about bringing the Open back to Pebble in nine years accelerated during this past weekend and is still contingent on a formal contract coming together.
He says it will be a "magical moment" as part of Pebble's 100th anniversary festivities.
Also, the 2018 U.S. Amateur is set to be held here and the USGA says there are talks of bringing a future U.S. Women's Open to Pebble.
