In 1986, Dolly Parton became co-owner of a small railroad-themed tourist attraction in Pigeon Forge. She renamed it 'Dollywood,' and, over the next quarter century, doubled its size. Today the park draws some 2.5 million visitors annually, and is one of the largest employers in the region.
