This 1979 film features a few famous faces – including Dennis Quaid and Daniel Stern – as part of a group of four friends struggling to find their place after high school. Known as “cutters” – kids of those who work in the town’s limestone quarries – the group is often criticized by other kids in town who are heading to college while they stay to work. Among the cutters, Dave has dreams of being a champion cyclist, and enlists his friends to participate in the local college’s “Little 500” bike race, facing down members of an Italian cycling team he idolizes and the college kids who consider him and his friends unworthy.
