It was recorded two months after Martin Luther King, Jr.'s assassination, and includes quotes from King. Elvis performed the song with a southern gospel style. The song was covered by Elliott Yamin on American Idol Season 5, and in a special effects "duet " with Celine Dione and Elvis on American Idol, Season 6.
