The former president – also making his 19th appearance in the Top 10 – got 5 percent of the vote, and Ms. Winfrey received 11 percent. Winfrey has occupied a spot in the Top 10 23 times, beat out only by Jacqueline Kennedy, Ms. Thatcher, and Queen Elizabeth. She also has unusual bipartisan popularity, with somewhat equal support among Democrats (13 percent), independents (10 percent), and Republicans (8 percent).
Last year, Winfrey also held the No. 3 spot for women. But 2010 is a marked improvement for Mr. Clinton, who last year barely tied for 10th place, earning 1 percent of the vote.
