Newark Mayor Cory Booker, a Democrat, turned snowfall into a political windfall through a combination of hard work and social-networking savvy. He traversed the streets of the city throughout the storm, offering help and inviting people to send direct messages if they had special needs. He posted progress reports on his Twitter account as he delivered aid such as diapers to a grateful mother.
