The drumbeat of sexual harassment allegations against Cain had been building before his Nov. 8 press conference. Despite remaining a front-runner in many national polls at that point, Cain had been dogged by pronouncements in the mainstream media that his campaign would crumble.
Cain emphatically dismissed any notion that he would be chastened by the media firestorm.
"As far as these accusations causing me to back off and maybe withdraw from this presidential primary race – ain't gonna happen."
