The consensus seems to be that Pawlenty’s best chance to win the nomination is by the process of elimination.

Between Newt Gingrich’s marital wanderings and flame-throwing, Mitt Romney’s “Romneycare,” and Sarah Palin’s insubstantial experience and sometimes fervent unpopularity, “Pawlenty is kind of hoping all of the seven or eight candidates above him self-destruct or don’t run,” says Lichtman.

“That’s his best strategy, to be the last man standing.”
