Immigration

The son of a legal immigrant from Italy, voted for measures to build additional fences along the US-Mexican border. Opposes giving government services like Social Security and in-state tuition to undocumented immigrants and has voted against guest-worker programs.

Education

Pledges to abolish the Department of Education and return more control to states. Supports creationism curriculum in schools, abstinence education, prayer in classrooms, charter schools, and vouchers.

Abortion

Ardently antiabortion and has a consistent voting record on the issue. Opposes abortion even in cases of rape and incest and believes life begins at conception.

Health care

Pledges to repeal Obama law. As senator from Pennsylvania, supported Medicare prescription drug benefit. Now opposes it in favor of Rep. Paul Ryan’s plan to transition Medicare to voucher system, allowing seniors to purchase health care on the open market.
