Senate's 16 new members arrive on Capitol Hill: Who are they?

Starting this Monday, the Senate welcomes 16 fresh faces to the Capitol’s marbled halls.

In a landslide election, Republican Jerry Moran defeated Democratic candidate Lisa Johnston in the open race for Kansas Gov.-elect Sam Brownback’s vacated seat. After working in the Kansas state senate, Congressman Moran has represented Kansas’ First District in Congress since 1997. Moran, who co-chaired the House Hunger Caucus and served on the Agriculture Committee, won the election by a 44.1 percentage point margin.
