Some economists say lots of new jobs could be created by opening the door to more domestic production of oil and natural gas. Obama has paid some attention to this goal, but critics say he has been more focused on efforts to boost green-power supplies, with little impact on jobs so far.

Proponents of renewable energy say the US should double-down on green-jobs investments. A middle approach might be to emphasize both types of energy development.
