While the others on this list have either seen improved traffic or annual hours spent in traffic that have stayed the same, the million and a half regional commuters in Washington, DC, spent three more hours in traffic in 2007 than they did in 2006. The TTI reported that a traveler in the US capital spent 62 hours in traffic in 2007, up from 59. In a poll by the Washington Post in April, more than a quarter of workers occasionally skip their terrible commute and dial in from home. Sixty percent of people surveyed said traffic in the city has grown worse in the past five years.
