Kim Clijsters of Belgium celebrates her victory against Ana Ivanovic of Serbia during the US Open tennis tournament in New York, September 5. Clijsters plays in the US Open quarterfinals Tuesday night.

Last year, Kim Clijsters made a triumphant return to Grand Slam tennis by winning the US Open and sharing that with her young daughter. Now, Clijsters is back as the second seed in the ladies draw at Flushing Meadows and poised to make another run at the US tennis championship.

Tuesday evening, Clijsters will take on Australian Samantha Stosur in the ladies quarterfinal round. Stosur reached the finals of the French Open this spring and has a US Open trophy for winning the women's doubles title back in 2005.

That's the same year that Clijsters won her first of two US Open singles titles. The Belgian also has won doubles championships in both the French Open and Wimbledon. The winner of the Clijsters-Stosur match faces the winner of the Venus Williams-Francesca Schiavone match Tuesday.
