Butler trailed 51-40 with a little over nine minutes remaining in the game, but tied it at 60 with 31 seconds remaining on a Matt Howard free throw (Howard also hit a buzzer-beating layup against Old Dominion in the second round and the game-winning free throw against Pitt in the third round).
In the overtime period, Shelvin Mack scored the Butler’s last five points, including two free throws that put the Bulldogs up 74-71 with 11 seconds remaining. Florida’s Erving Walker’s three-point attempt with eight seconds left was off the mark, and Butler’s Ronald Nored pulled in the defensive rebound and threw it into the Butler end of the court, punching Butler’s second straight ticket to the Final Four.
