The countdown to Valentine's Day 2008 is on, and that means the New England Confectionary Co., the oldest multiline candy company in the United States, is working furiously to produce its iconic candy hearts – the ones that have carried succinct sayings such as "Be Mine" and "Kiss Me" for more than 100 years. During the six weeks leading up to the big day, NECCO manufactures about 8 billion of its Sweethearts Conversation Hearts at plants in Massachusetts and Wisconsin. Each year, new sayings are introduced on the hearts, which come in two sizes. For 2008, NECCO selected 10 new sayings honoring Mother Nature and the unpredictability of weather and relationships. The mini-messages:
