How far is the Fukushima Daiichi plant from Tokyo?

As the crow flies, the heart of Tokyo (population 36 million) is about 140 miles (225 km) from the Fukushima Daiichi plant. That’s just about the distance from Portland, Ore., to Seattle, Wash., the width of the Florida peninsula at its widest point, or roughly twice the distance from New York to Philadelphia.
